Vanessa and I are staying in the Engadin valley for three weeks this summer. It's a holiday in the mountains and we have a series of races planned while we're here. The first was the Bernina Ultraks Steinbock race which we ran together. Our goal was to run a steady effort, acclimatise to the altitude, and to have a fun day in the mountains.
We had a fantastic time on the trails. The race route was spectacular and the views down to the villages and up the to glaciers were breathtaking. The first climb up to the panorama trail was tough and we felt the atltitude, but once we got on to that rolling trail we settled into a good pace. We ran well all the way up to the high point of the course and then cruised down on the technical trails to the finish.
It was an amazing day out and I was so proud of the way V ran to take on this challenge. A perfect start to our series of races in the Engadin!
