I entered the Traine-Savates 5km to continue with my speed training this winter. I was hoping to see an improvement since the 10km de Payerne a few weeks ago and I felt like I was ready to run faster than before.
On the day the conditions weren't ideal for fast racing as it was wet, cold and very windy. Nevertheless I set out following my race plan and managed to hold the pace for most of the race. There route was a little undulating and there were a few sections on wet and slippery trail that slowed me down a little, but overall I managed to achieve a consistent effort and achieve what I set out to do.
It was fun to be racing against a few other runners and I was happy with my time and happy to finish second. I've still got some speed work to do, but so far everything is going in the right direction for the 2023 season.
