Last year I ran the trail de Pierre a Voir (race report here) as my first race of the year after all my goal races had been cancelled in 2020. I enjoyed the race and had a good day out on the trails. I wasn't planning to run the race again this year, however, after the Swiss Canyon Trail last weekend (race report in progress) where I wasn't happy with my performance, I wanted a chance to race hard, to see my progress since last year's race, and hopefully to boost my confidence.
The good news is that I had a great day out and achieved all those objectives. I ran hard and managed to put out a strong performance and solid effort for the whole race. Last year I ran 2:12 and finished in 8th. This year I ran 2:04 and finished in 5th. The sensations during the run and seeing the improved result from last year was exactly what I needed and boosted my confidence before my next goal race which is Trail Verbier St Bernard in three week's time (my 2021 race calendar).
I'm back on track!
