Pierre a Voir - Switzerland - 2021 - 5th

Last year I ran the trail de Pierre a Voir (race report here) as my first race of the year after all my goal races had been cancelled in 2020. I enjoyed the race and had a good day out on the trails. I wasn't planning to run the race again this year, however, after the Swiss Canyon Trail last weekend (race report in progress) where I wasn't happy with my performance, I wanted a chance to race hard, to see my progress since last year's race, and hopefully to boost my confidence.

The good news is that I had a great day out and achieved all those objectives. I ran hard and managed to put out a strong performance and solid effort for the whole race. Last year I ran 2:12 and finished in 8th. This year I ran 2:04 and finished in 5th. The sensations during the run and seeing the improved result from last year was exactly what I needed and boosted my confidence before my next goal race which is Trail Verbier St Bernard in three week's time (my 2021 race calendar).

I'm back on track!

A beautiful morning for a race above the town of Saxon.

It was steep from the start!

About halfway up the climb in the village of Sapinhaut.

A section along the Bisse de Saxon (1).

A section along the Bisse de Saxon (2).

This section was fast and fun running.

Even though it was fun I was working hard...!

Race result:

12 June 2021
21km
1500m
2:04:01
5th place
